Axis at the Wellington Phoenix

Axis doctors Mark Fulcher and Sarah Beable were on the sideline for the Wellington Phoenix's A-League fixture against the Central Coast Mariners at Eden Park.

The match was notable for the use of the FFA's concussion policy for the first time.  The policy states that for a suspected head injury the team doctor can ask for the game to be suspended for three minutes while the player is assessed.  While this is clearly not long enough to adequately diagnose and assess a head injury it is a very good initiative. Simple sideline tests can help determine whether the player can safely continue.
