As a mother to a son who sustained a severe brain injury at birth, Sarah has learned through her lived experiences about the complexities and adversities people face when living with the effects of brain injury. This led her into the field of neuropsychology, where she gained a PhD. She also works in private practice in the field of bariatric surgery.
Sarah is a senior lecturer and research fellow at AUT University, for the Department of Neuroscience and Psychology and actively involved in research, having published in a number of peer-reviewed journals. Her research is focused within the field of traumatic brain injury, with a specific focus on concussion and mild traumatic brain injuries.
Currently she sits on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Neurological Foundation. As well as holding memberships with the International Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, NZ Special Interest Neuropsychology Group and NZ Psychological Society. Sarah is currently collaborating with the research development team at Pearson Clinical involved in the development of the WAIS-5 andWMS-5 cognitive assessments. She is a professional affiliate for the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology.
