Our Surgeons

  1. Mr Simon Young - Speciality - Knee
    Simon is an award-winning Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the knee. He has worked and trained in NZ, the UK and the USA. He completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Stanford University (where he provided orthopaedic care for the San Francisco 49ers NFL Team and Stanford College Football Team). His research on knee surgery is internationally recognised.
  2. Dr Terri Bidwell - Speciality - Paediatric and adolescent injuries
    Terri is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-specialty in paediatric and adolescent injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions. She combines her orthopaedic practice with work in emergency medicine and an interest in spine pain and osteopenia (low bone density). Dr Bidwell also works at Starship Hospital.
  1. Mr Rob Elliott- Specialty - Hip and shoulder
    Rob is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction, hip preservation and hip replacement. Rob has worked with Melbourne Storm NRL and England Football team members and has been the doctor for both the Tasman Makos and Wellington Lions.
  2. Mr Eric Swanton - Speciality - Foot, ankle and hip
    Eric is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot, ankle, hip and hip replacements. He has trained and worked both in New Zealand and the UK, and has written several research papers and contributed chapters to books on orthopaedics. Outside of Axis Eric is an orthopaedic consultant at North Shore Hospital.

Treatment Costs

In most cases, your consultations and visits are fully funded by ACC or your private health insurance. It is important to discuss this with your surgeon’s PA to make sure that you have a clear understanding of any possible costs that might be involved with your care.
