Yes, before seeing us, you will need a referral from your physio, doctor, nurse or other medical professional.

Based on your initial assessment there is a reasonable chance that you are going to need some time off work. This appointment is to make sure that you have the paperwork and a plan in place to make sure that you receive payments from ACC while you are off and that there is a plan in place for yourself and your employer regarding your return to work.

You will meet one of our occupational therapists (OT) to discuss your current work role, your treatment plan and to consider whether you will be able to continue with some or all of your duties, or whether you will need to be off work completely.

Your initial appointment will be between 30-60 minutes.

After the initial appointment the OT will discuss this plan with your employer and in some cases may visit your workplace.

Not normally. Your work certificate needs to be completed by a medical doctor however we will create a work plan that the doctor will review and add to your work certificate. Our OT will liaise with your GP, specialist or one of our other doctors to make sure that this is completed.

This will depend on your injury and the planned treatment. We may be able to make one return to work plan for the course of your treatment. When you need surgery, or need more prolonged time off work, you may need more than one appointment.

Often you will only need one appointment. If you are off work for a more prolonged period, you may need more than one appointment.

In most cases this type of appointment can be done online.

We have been asked to do this by Careway, who are managing and funding your care. If you are off work for a prolonged period there is a requirement to have this type of assessment. The purpose of this is to try to make sure that you have a clear rehabilitation plan and that we can get you back to your normal function as soon as possible.
