Hoani is a doctor at Axis and is currently the One NZ Warriors NSW Cup and Pathways team doctor. Hoani has previous experience as an Orthopaedic and General Practice Registrar and has also worked in various sports including rugby union and cricket.

Hoani has always had a passion for sport and exercise originally training as a physical education teacher before completing medical training in 2017 at The University of Auckland. He has previous experience as an Orthopaedic and General Practice Registrar.  Hoani has an ongoing passion for research having completed a year as the University of Auckland’s Surgical Research Fellow with several published papers and international conference presentations.  He also has a strong interest in medical education and pastoral care of junior doctors, having held the position of Counties Manukau Medical Education Fellow in 2021. Prior to Axis he worked as a Sports Medicine Registrar at the Sports Clinic Christchurch for 2022 and Capital Sports Medicine Wellington in 2022.

Hoani enjoys taking part in a range of sports, both in training and coaching, including league, NZ Tag, and strongman events.
