

Phil is a Sport and Exercise Physician Registrar based in Christchurch. He is the current Team Physician for the Canterbury NPC Rugby team. He attended the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands. Phil has an active research interest in ACL reconstruction and graft failure rates.
Phil was raised in the UK but spent extended periods in France and Germany whilst growing up. He completed his Medical Studies at the University of Leeds and worked in Yorkshire in junior doctor roles, before moving to Perth, Australia and then New Zealand. Prior to commencing training in Sports and Exercise Medicine, Phil worked in General and Orthopaedic Surgery and as a result has an interest in surgical management of injuries. He is proud to call Christchurch home and has been living and working in New Zealand since 2013.
Phil has worked with athletes across a wide variety of sports and enjoys providing event medical coverage. He has toured with multiple teams and has been medical director for a number of events. Outside of work he enjoys football, running and spending time with his young family.
